Gobsmacking article. I had no idea.

I wish there was some way for the people for the world to collectively build faith in their systems, in the face of these incredibly beyond the pale usurpations of democracy. The people deserve to have some trust in elections, and every democracy everywhere should be working to make heinous acts against democracy like this much harder to pull off & much more resisted when foes work against the voices of the people.

I hate citing Ministry for the Future, but there really aren't that many bad nation-corrupting people in the world, and MftF portrayed acutely the asymmetry of what these ratios and modern guerilla warfare would reap. To be sure more years of hideous lead would be ghastly, but if we keep losing our nations to such injustice it's hard to see what people in these nations feel like they would have to lose.

It shouldn't come to that. There should be multi-polar reactions there should be actions before hand by all nations to make democracy a path that is respected.
