A couple of weeks ago, I built and released Ode. It is opinionated and its ethos come from my own work over the years as a writer. This is documented in more detail in the repository, too, and I have done my best to keep the documentation as thorough as possible. Last night, I released v1.2.0 with presets and theming.

Ode focuses on simplicity, plain Markdown, and a workflow that stays out of the way. No numbers, no metrics, just writing and reading. The app features:

- docker-compose for easy setup - markdown-based writing with a content repository - a beautiful reader mode with gestures, arrow-key navigation and custom checkpointing so bookmarks are never lost - 10 presets with full or partial override supported - dark/light themes for all presets - RSS feed generation on build-time - sitemap generation on build-time - random piece for readers to start with serendipity - build-time generation for a blazing fast app - fully customisable with config.yaml - no tracking, no analytics, no boxes, no search

I wanted something lighter and less noisy than modern publishing platforms, so I built the tool I wanted to use. I figured I'll share this with the wider world in case someone is looking for something similar.

Feedback is welcome and I will try to include anything that fits within the ethos of Ode!
