I am a very senior (both professionally and age-wise). My job looks safe for now, but who knows what is going to happen with the country, with the economy, with software development... There are 2 main questions I am contemplating every day: 1) where to move in terms of professional skills and 2) how to save savings (even not that big in my case). Looks to me all books we read related to these questions no longer relevant to the world, asking smart people in this community, what are thoughts?

Definitely not alone. Many seniors are in the same boat. On skills focus on durable, not trendy. System design, modernization, or deep domain expertise in stable sectors. On savings - diversify beyond stocks. I-bonds, hard assets, and geographic spread if possible. Old playbooks are outdated. Resilience is the new goal.

In the US, it looks like the healthcare industry is the sole viable sector. What I don’t know is how to break into healthcare from a developer’s perspective. Good luck.
