I've spent the last year using tools like NotebookLM and ChatGPT for stuff ranging from studying, research, and writing. Its been okay, but I've found that this standard chat interface has been a bottleneck for sustained work. The answers are useful, but all of the information remain limited in linear, ephemeral threads than would also span across multiple conversations.
ThinkEx is an open-source alternative that augments the normal the chat interface with a spatial, grid-like canvas. It works like a physical desk: instead of your context scrolling away or getting lost across different windows, you spread out PDFs, videos, and notes side-by-side to interact them easily.
Its fully open source as well :)
