I don't have many old tools, but the ones I do have very satisfying human aspects. They are unversally hard metal and no soft grip. Sometimes somebody five decades or more wrapped some cloth tape around them, or they have gnurled grip tooled in. Well shaped for my hand. Perhaps somewhat unforgiving but also capable of doubling as a hammer for everything which looks like a nail.

I like modern tools but I worry the continual use of soft plastics grips invites future problems because almost all soft plastics I have which encounter extreme temperatures in storage then turn to good as the plasticisers come out.

Most cheap screwdrivers are useless. Many Philips and pozidrive tips shred out. I am obviously a bad workman and so I blame my tools unfairly sometimes.
